Made with Nepali Lokta Paper:
Lokta paper is famous for its rough attractive texture, durability and resistance to insects. The Lokta shrub (Daphne Cannabina) grows at altitutes between 6000-10000 feet in western Nepal. Its bark is harvested by hand and bark from a single plant can be re-harvested in 5-7 years. The bark is is beaten and boiled for about 2 hours when color may be added. It is then spread thinly on sheets of cloth or wire mesh and set in the sun to dry. The whole process is done by hand.
